How does a smart camera check printed data?
Checking printed data is a repetitive and error-prone task. To avoid errors, it is best to leave this to an intelligent vision system. There are three levels of checking:
- Presence check - just checking whether something has been printed, without evaluating the content.
- Check for presence and completeness - checking whether the entire print is present, without content verification.
- Content verification (OCR) - reading the printed data and optionally checking for correctness (e.g. via database comparison).
Smart camera: deep learning for control of printed data
The third form of verification - content verification of printed data - for transparent materials, reflective materials, deviating fonts or non-planar objects is only feasible with a camera using Deep Learning technology.

- Edge Learning: a user-friendly AI solution optimised for specific tasks. Requires only a limited number of sample images for training.
- Deep Learning: suitable for complex and challenging applications. Offers maximum flexibility, but requires a larger dataset for accurate training.
Control of printed data in industrial printing
